Nicholas Sparks is one of the worlds most loved and popular storytellers. All of his books have been New York Times bestsellers, with an estimated 80 million copies sold worldwide in over 45 different languages. With 50 million of these copies in the US alone.
He wrote one of his best known stories, The Notebook, over 6 months at age 28. It was published in 1996 by Warner Books and is one of the most loved books around the world.
8 of Sparks books have been adapted into a film those being most recently Safe Haven (2013), The Lucky One, Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe, Dear John and The Last Song. Which have made three quarters of a billion dollars combined.
Personal
Nicholas Sparks was born on December 31st 1965 in Omaha Nebraska, to Patrick Sparks and Jill Marie Sparks. He was the middle of three children, older brother Michael ‘Micah’ and younger sister Danielle ‘Dana’ who died at the age 33. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1988.
He now lives in North Carolina with his family, his wife Cathy and 5 children Myles, Ryan, Landon, Lexie & Savannah.
Charities
Sparks contributes to various local and national charities. He is a major contributor to the Creative Writing Program at the University of Notre Dame (where he attended), where he provides scholarships, internships and a fellow ship yearly. Along with his wide Cathy, he began the Epiphany School, in New Bern, North Carolina. In 2011, Nicholas and Cathy launched the Nicholas Sparks Foundation. A non-profit organisation committed to improving cultural and international understanding through global education experiences for students of all ages. More than 10 million dollars have been shared to deserving charities, scholarship programs and projects.
